You have seen the HYROX videos. You have wondered whether you could actually do it. You have probably also wondered whether saying that out loud makes you sound a little ridiculous. It does not. It makes you HY-Curious, and this is the morning built for exactly that.
Pittsburgh FIT is hosting a Partner HYROX simulation on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 7:30 to 11:00 AM at 210 Thomas St in Pittsburgh's East End. Teams of two complete every station at full competition weight with every rep intact, with the running cut in half. Entry is $50 per team, or $25 per person. Proceeds benefit Humane Animal Rescue.
Here is exactly what the morning looks like.
You and a partner run a full HYROX simulation together. Every station is there, at full competition weight, with every rep intact. Nothing is watered down.
The only thing we cut is the running, which we have halved. That keeps the day genuinely hard without turning it into a two-hour endurance event that nobody signed up for. You get the real experience of the stations, the fatigue, the pacing decisions and the finish, in a window that leaves you the rest of your Saturday.
You split the work with your partner however makes sense for the two of you. You cover each other's rough patches. And you find out what you are capable of with somebody in your corner instead of alone with a stopwatch and your own worst thoughts.
No. Nobody gets called out and nobody gets left behind.
There is no fitness level you need to reach before you are allowed to show up. Our coaches will scale every station, cue you through the parts that feel unfamiliar, and make sure you finish standing. If you have never touched a SkiErg or pushed a sled, September 19 is a perfectly reasonable day to do it for the first time.
We have run two free half-HYROX events already, and the pattern is always the same. People arrive nervous and leave asking when the next one is.
Mostly people who have been curious for a while and have not had a low-stakes way to test it.
That includes members who train with us every week and want to see what the format feels like. It also includes people who have never set foot in our building and are quietly wondering whether they would survive. Both are welcome, and both show up to these things.
Bring a friend, a partner, a coworker or a sibling. Come solo and we will pair you up, which happens more often than you would think and works out well nearly every time.
Not much. Athletic shoes you can run in, comfortable clothes, a water bottle and a towel. We have all the equipment.
Come a little early so you have time to warm up and meet whoever you are working with. Parking is straightforward around 210 Thomas St, and we are easy to reach from Regent Square, Point Breeze, Wilkinsburg, Squirrel Hill, Edgewood and Swissvale.
If you are starting from a reasonable base, seven weeks is plenty for a partner simulation. Two to three coached sessions a week plus one longer easy run will get you there comfortably.
Our Tuesday, Thursday and weekend group fitness classes are built around exactly these movements, and they are open to people training toward the event. If you would rather have somebody build the whole plan around your schedule and your body, personal training is the faster path.
And if you would like it all written down, we have a free HYROX Starter Guide that walks through every station, the standards, and the weekly structure we recommend.
Proceeds from the event benefit Humane Animal Rescue. Pittsburgh FIT has been part of this neighborhood for twelve years, and the events we run tend to work best when they are pointed at something beyond the workout itself.
Before September, there is a free Balance Clinic on Wednesday, August 5 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM with Coach Gianfranco Frattelli.
Balance is one of those things nobody thinks about until it starts to slip. You notice it reaching for a high shelf, or catching yourself on the stairs, or feeling less sure on one foot than you used to. Gianfranco has been training balance seriously for the last seven years, on top of more than two decades in karate as a fourth-degree black belt and twenty years of calisthenics and Muay Thai. He has also been the guy who was overweight and the guy training around an injury, so when somebody tells him they are nervous to try something new, he is not guessing at what that feels like.
The first clinic filled up, so we are running it again. It is free and no experience is needed.
Teams of two, $50 per team. Saturday, September 19, 7:30 to 11:00 AM at 210 Thomas St.
Come find out what you have been curious about.
When and where is the Partner HYROX event in Pittsburgh?Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 7:30 to 11:00 AM at Pittsburgh FIT, 210 Thomas St, Pittsburgh PA 15221, in the city's East End. Entry is $50 per team of two, or $25 per person, with proceeds benefiting Humane Animal Rescue.
Do I need a partner to register? No. You can register with a friend, spouse or coworker, or you can sign up solo and we will pair you with somebody on the day. Solo registrations are common at these events and the pairings work out well nearly every time.
Do I need HYROX experience to take part?No experience is required. Coaches scale every station to the person in front of them and cue you through anything unfamiliar. This is a simulation rather than a competition, so there is no qualifying standard and nobody is ranked against anybody else.
What is different about a partner HYROX simulation?Every station runs at full competition weight with every rep intact, but the running is halved and split between two people. That keeps the day challenging while making it accessible to people who are not ready for a full eight-kilometer individual race.
What should I bring to the event?Athletic shoes you can run in, comfortable workout clothes, a water bottle and a towel. Pittsburgh FIT provides all equipment. Arrive early enough to warm up and meet your partner if you are being paired on the day.
