Melody M - 2025 Client Highlight of The Year

Melody joined Pittsburgh FIT at the recommendation of a coworker (shoutout Amery!) with a clear goal: to feel stronger, more energized, and confident in her body.

At 37, she had tried working out alone and navigating her nutrition on her own, but she wanted a supportive community and guidance that fit realistically into her life. Over time, she has built not just fitness and nutrition habits, but a sustainable framework for long-term health and wellbeing. That, and she's a champion at moving a barbell!

From the beginning, Melody’s focus has been on movement, sleep, and consistent nutrition. None of these are quick fixes or extreme diets.

With the help of our nutrition coach, Heather, she established practical habits that could fit her lifestyle, addressing digestive health, energy, and nutrient timing without overhauling everything at once.

Meanwhile, her weekly personal training sessions with Coach Erika have allowed her to grow her strength safely and effectively. She's stronger than ever and absolutely fantastic at clean and jerks and snatching, whether or not she believes us!

Her results speak for themselves:

  • Weight and Body Composition Wins: Over 50 pounds lost!
    Melody has steadily improved her body composition, losing significant fat while maintaining and even gaining lean muscle. Her progress shows the power of consistent effort, not drastic measures.
  • Strength and Energy: She can now move through her day with more ease, whether it’s tackling workouts, playing with her dog Tucker, or staying active through work and daily life. Those 2 PM slumps are no longer slowing her down.
  • Nutrition Mastery: Melody has learned how to balance her protein, carbs, and healthy fats, manage cravings, and incorporate foods she enjoys without guilt. She has experimented with intermittent fasting, anti-inflammatory eating, and iron-rich meals—all with the guidance to make these approaches sustainable.

Key habits that fueled her success:

  • Personal Training with Erika 1-2 times per week over the last few years, paired with some custom independent work to move her closer to her goals.
  • Incorporating low-effort movement like short walks, jump rope, and dance videos, because they're fun! Everything counts.
  • Tracking macros (protein/carbs/fat), managing hydration, and nutrient timing while remaining flexible (the most important part!)
  • Leveraging community and social events for accountability and support.

What’s remarkable about Melody’s journey is that she has never stopped evolving. Her goals shift with her life, health, and energy levels.

She’s constantly experimenting in a thoughtful, educated way! She is a scientist after all!

Whether that’s adjusting meal timing, exploring new protein sources, or adding enjoyable movement routines like dance. This adaptability shows a deep understanding that wellness is a lifelong process, not a static destination.

Today, Melody radiates confidence and vitality. She moves with agency, smiles often, and embraces her health journey with a sense of purpose and joy. She even left her reliable academic medicine job to start her own therapy practice, which is thriving! She is going to help SO many people, and the importance of her work should not be be understated.

Her story is a testament to the power of community, consistency, and customized guidance, proving that sustainable change is achievable when you combine support, strategy, and self-compassion.

Melody’s journey is ongoing, and every week she adds more wins, more energy, and more mastery over her health. We’re thrilled to celebrate her progress and can’t wait to see what she accomplishes next.
