Diaphragmatic breathing is a type of a breathing exercise that helps strengthen your diaphragm, an important muscle that helps you breathe. This breathing exercise is also sometimes called belly breathing or abdominal breathing. It has a number of benefits that affect your entire body. It’s the basis for almost all meditation or relaxation techniques. It can lower your stress levels, reduce your blood pressure, and regulate other important bodily processes. But why is it important for working out? Well there are two types of breathing chest breathing and stomach breathing. One fatigues faster, tightens up the upper body and does not protect your spine. The other open up the front of your body, keeps you more oxygenated and teaches you how to brace your core. Can you guess which one? Stomach Breathing! If you want to learn how to breathe properly I will be hosting a free breathe and deadlift clinic here in June!
