The Olympics are coming up really soon. There will be a ton of amazing athletes representing their countries on the world’s biggest stage. Everyone has their favorite events, and I am no different.I love watching the fastest people in the world run as fast as they can. It’s awesome. I mean, watching Usain Bolt (my favorite) float down the track, that’s almost a religious experience. I get goosebumps just thinking about it. It looks effortless, but it’s not. That’s what makes it so amazing. They seem to be shot out of a cannon, all natural power and grace propelling them down the track faster than you go from one stop light to the next. But in reality, they are performing one of the most complex skills anyone can ever learn. They’re sprinting. They’re using a combination of power, speed, stamina, balance, timing, and more to create force into the ground. That force drives them forward, and FAST. They’re brains are working as fast as their muscles, all together, to turn them into one of the most magnificent things on the planet for :10-:12. It’s so cool, and kinda mind-blowing when you really think about it.Olympic sprinters are faster than you, and me, and PROBABLY everyone you know. They may have been born with innate athletic skill which probably makes them naturally faster than us normals, but that’s not why they’re at the olympics. They’re there because they train every single thing that factors into being the fastest person on the planet.Soooo, who wants to learn how to sprint? I’m not saying that after our 3-week workshop that you’ll be lining up against Sha’Carri RIchardson, but I can definitely give you a guarantee that you’ll be faster than you were when you started. Each session will start with a dynamic warmup, followed by some balance and coordination drills where we will build technique and positional awareness, then some sprints, then a nice cool-down. In the spirit of transparency, running actual sprints will be a very small part of each session, but that’s how you improve at things. Aknowledge the variables, improve at all of the small stuff, and then put it all together.Sign up for my 3 week Sprinting Workshop today. The clinic runs on Saturdays, July 31, August 7, and August14, and it costs $75.
