Snatch - Push Up - Run

“No matter what happens in life be good to people. Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind.” Anonymous

Today we're working on a higher skill movement: the Hang Power Snatch.

Hang Power Snatches are an amazing movement. It's an athletic and dynamic movement that incorporates a TON of muscle groups.

To do a good hang power snatch,

  1. Engage your back and core muscles to stay in a great position
  2. Use your glutes to get the weight moving
  3. Pull the weight close to your body with your lats
  4. Shrug and pull the bar with your traps and biceps
  5. and finally catch the bar in a squat and stand it up!

One of the many reasons we do movements like this is because of the large amount of muscle groups involved.

Alternatively, movements like a Russian kettlebell swing or sumo deadlift high pull or trap bar deadlift would be a great substitution for a snatch.

Remember, heavy is relative and at Pittsburgh FIT, we build FORM FIRST!
