Lift Sumo Lift More

“Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.” —Tony Robbins

Sumo deadlifts? What are those?

They are named after the starting position of a sumo wrestler, a traditional Japanese sport.

Wide stance. Toes slightly farther out. Knees a bit more bent. Chest a bit higher.

Sumo is generally easier for a few reasons

1. The weight is closer to your center of gravity

2. Your chest is up higher so you can use more legs

3. The range of motion is smaller making it easier to lift.

If the deadlift is difficult for you or it hurts your back, oftentimes moving to a wider stance will make the deadlift a much more tolerable exercise.

Also, deadlifts make you run faster, jump higher, and build your posterior chain, so what's not to love?
